Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Alt text header logo is missing. This fails WCAG 2.0 Level A: 1.1.1 Non-text Content. See section “What we are doing to Improve Accessibility” for our improvement and compliance plan.

Some of our form elements do not have labels, including the search bar. This fails WCAG 2.0 Level A: 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions, WCAG 2.0 Level A: 1.3.1 Info and Relationships, and Success Criterion 2.5.3 Label in Name. See section “What we are doing to Improve Accessibility” for our improvement and compliance plan.

It is not possible to skip to the main content. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.1 (Bypass Blocks). See section “What we are doing to Improve Accessibility” for our improvement and compliance plan.

Keyboard focus indicators are not visible. This fails to meet Success Criterion 2.4.7 Focus Visible. See section “What we are doing to Improve Accessibility” for our improvement and compliance plan.

Not all our Id attributes are unique. This fails WCAG 2.0 Level A: 4.1.1 Parsing. See section “What we are doing to Improve Accessibility” for our improvement and compliance plan.

Some of our links do not have discernible text. This fails WCAG 2.0 Level A: 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value and WCAG 2.0 Level A: 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context). See section “What we are doing to Improve Accessibility” for our improvement and compliance plan.

Not all our documents have one main landmark. This fails to meet Success Criterion 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks, Success Criterion 1.3.1 Info and Relationships and Success Criterion 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks. See section “What we are doing to Improve Accessibility” for our improvement and compliance plan.

Not all our page content is contained by landmarks. This fails to meet Success Criterion 1.3.1 Info and Relationships and Success Criterion 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks. See section “What we are doing to Improve Accessibility” for our improvement and compliance plan.

Some html element must have language attributes. This fails WCAG 2.0 Level A: 3.1.1 Language of Page. See section “What we are doing to Improve Accessibility” for our improvement and compliance plan.

Not all our frames have title attributes. This fails WCAG 2.0 Level A: 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks and  WCAG 2.0 Level A: 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value. See section “What we are doing to Improve Accessibility” for our improvement and compliance plan.

Not all our headings levels only increase by one, which ensures headings have discernable text. This probably only appears on our star rating pages. See section “What we are doing to Improve Accessibility” for our improvement and compliance plan.

Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content). See section “What we are doing to Improve Accessibility” for our improvement and compliance plan.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

It has been a long-term plan that the current Trading Standards web site would move from its current location and become hosted by Worcestershire County Council. This was originally planned to be completed by 23rd September 2020, and have the site fully compliant. Unfortunately, this has been delayed due to flooding earlier in the year and the pandemic. This move continues to be the long-term plan.
In the short-term, we will continue to make the current version of the web site as compliant as possible, but bear in mind we cannot justify committing resources to a site that will shortly be re-written and hosted on a different platform.
We will continue to test the current web site for compliance, and we will update this accessibility statement when we have a timescale for the web site move, and path to full compliance.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 23rd September 2020. It was last reviewed on 23rd September 2020.

This website was and continues to be regularly tested and automatically scanned for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines V2.1 level A and level AA. These tests have been carried out internally by Worcestershire Trading Standards Service, Worcestershire Regulatory Services Technical Services and Wyre Forest District Council web team.
